To create a space befitting the prestigious Ginza district, we designed the Kashin Osuga store to reflect the brand’s deep commitment to craftsmanship and its warm, delicate aesthetic, which has been cherished since its founding.
The common area of the designated section at Matsuya Ginza presented certain challenges, including the limited width of the front passage. However, the area’s long-standing history and the atmosphere cultivated by years of patronage added a unique character to the environment. Even within these conditions, we carefully curated every detail—from material selection to the finest design elements—ensuring that the space would enhance, rather than diminish, the presence of Kashin Osuga’s philosophy of craftsmanship.
For the finishing materials, we used sandstone, known for its natural texture and warmth, to instill a sense of calm and sophistication throughout. The displays prominently feature artisan-crafted ceramics, carried over from previous store designs, while other elements were refined to further elevate the brand’s existing design ethos. By incorporating materials that express their inherent qualities and the spirit of their makers, the store embodies the Kashin Osuga worldview and delivers it to every visitor.
Additionally, we paid careful attention to the flow of movement and sightlines within the display areas, allowing the products themselves to shine while subtly communicating the passion and dedication behind Kashin Osuga’s craft.
In this intersection of tradition and innovation that defines Ginza, we hope this space will share Kashin Osuga’s vision with a wider audience, serving as a platform to further enhance the brand’s enduring appeal.
